About Us: Sharon Country Day School is a pre-school for children ages 3-5 years old. We have been working with, and nurturing, children for 49 years. All of our teachers are Early Education Care (EEC)qualified and have their CPR & First Aid certificates. ( License # 809602.) We are members of ECEN – Early Childhood Educators of Norfolk County, and NAEYC – National Association for the Education of Young Children. Both organizations provide training and professional development resources for early childhood educators. Our staff is professional, dedicated, and very experienced with the Early Childhood age group - they have been an integral part of the Sharon Country Day “family” for many years and truly enjoy teaching and being with your children. Staff ratio is 1 staff member to maximum of 7 children.
Qualifications: Corrine Hershman, Owner, B.S. Education Boston University (Sargent College)
Rhonda Hershman Jermyn, Director, B.A. Boston College
Paula Pariseau, Lead Teacher, B.A. Stonehill College, MSW Boston College
Philosophy: Our primary goal is to provide an environment which offers the opportunity for each child to discover his/her own unique potential in an atmosphere of love, caring and learning - one that stimulates social, emotional, & academic growth and builds self esteem and confidence.
The children are grouped chronologically & developmentally – 3 to young 4, and 4 to young 5– during circle, story time, and enrichment. Other periods of the day they are interacting & learning all together. Since children develop and mature individually, and not necessarily by their age, we have found one grouping can also be very beneficial.
We utilize a variety of media including music, books, flannel board activities, art, educational computer games, listening center & storytelling. Through a stimulating curriculum and interpersonal relationships with the children, we encourage & foster self confidence, respect for themselves & others, and a positive attitude toward learning and socializing.
